About the artist

Chris Brower grew up in mid Michigan where he wandered the woods and fields near his home. Moving to Colorado in the late 80’s and living there still, he began to hike, bike, and ski as a way to enjoy and explore the woods of Colorado and nearby areas. Looking for a creative outlet, and at the urging of a friend and fellow photographer, he began to take a 35mm camera along with him to record and share some of the wonders he’s seen in the natural world.

From the minutest of detail to the grandest of vistas, he’s driven by a passion for expressing his vision through a camera and film. Continually looking for new places and subjects to photograph, share with people, and broadening his and others sense of the diversity and beauty of the natural world.

"When I go out to make photographs, I consider myself more successful when I am able to see with more than just my eyes. My favorite images are the ones I make when I am moved by what I see. When a scene calls out to be photographed in this way and I am able to compose it in a striking way, this is what keeps me going out. Every day I am not able to go outside I wonder what it is I have missed that day, because I know from my experiences that even on days that don’t seem to hold any promise, nature has a way of surprising you if you’re willing to look closely. Attempting to share this feeling with others, to invoke an emotional reaction and increase someone’s appreciation of our gift of the Earth’s beauty, this is why I continue to make photographs."
I hope you enjoy.
